WHY I STARTED OUTTHINK THE THREAT
Most people don't become vulnerable because they're careless.
They become vulnerable because nobody has ever shown them what to look for.
After spending a career assessing threats, identifying vulnerabilities, and understanding how people become targets, I found myself asking the same question:
Why doesn't everyone know this?
Throughout my career, I learned that security isn't simply about locks, alarms, cameras, or technology.
Security begins with understanding what your home, routines, and digital footprint reveal to someone looking for an opportunity.
I created Outthink The Threat to bring intelligence-based security principles into everyday life and help people better understand risk before it becomes a problem. Residential Intelligence is the discipline.
I believe people deserve to understand their vulnerabilities before someone else discovers them.
Experience Built On Real-World Threat Analysis
My background includes:
USMC Counterintelligence Specialist
Human Intelligence (HUMINT) Professional (Global & Domestic)
Top Secret Security Clearance
15+ Years Threat Assessment Experience
Intelligence Instructor and Mentor
Advisor on Complex Security Matters
Throughout my career, my responsibility was understanding how threats develop, how vulnerabilities are exploited, and how risk can be reduced before an incident occurs. Today, I apply those same principles to helping clients better understand their homes, routines, and personal security.
Client Experiences
“The assessment completely changed how we think about security. From the property itself to our daily habits and routines, Jonathan identified things we had never considered despite living there for years. The process was thorough, thoughtful, and incredibly detailed without ever feeling overwhelming. More than anything, it gave us confidence that we understood our vulnerabilities and a clear plan for addressing them.”
“I thought our home was already pretty secure, but Jonathan identified several vulnerabilities we never would have noticed on our own. What impressed me most was that the assessment wasn’t a sales pitch—it was practical, professional, and tailored to how we actually live. The recommendations were clear, easy to implement, and immediately improved our awareness of both our property and our daily routines.”
“Jon gave me something I couldn’t get from a traditional home security company. Instead of trying to sell me products, he empowered me with knowledge. Drawing on more than 20 years of military and intelligence experience, he identified vulnerabilities I never would have recognized on my own and provided practical, realistic ways to improve both my personal and home security.
What impressed me most was his approach. He never relied on fear or scare tactics. The assessment was thorough, thoughtful, and incredibly detailed, yet everything was explained in a way that was easy to understand and implement. The experience completely changed how I think about security. I now feel more aware, more prepared, and ultimately safer in my home. That peace of mind is priceless.
I am incredibly grateful that Jon was willing to share his expertise with me and would recommend an assessment to anyone who wants a better understanding of their vulnerabilities before they become problems.”
A Different Approach to Security
Most security companies start by selling products.
We start by understanding risk.
Before recommending cameras, lighting, gates, access controls, or other security measures, we evaluate the factors that create vulnerability in the first place.
That includes:
Physical property vulnerabilities
Predictable routines and patterns
Environmental and neighborhood factors
Digital exposure and publicly available information
Opportunities for unwanted observation or exploitation
The result is a personalized assessment designed to help you become less predictable, less exposed, and more prepared.
Because the best security isn’t always the most expensive. It’s the most informed.
Outthink The Threat
Security isn’t about living in fear.
It’s about understanding risk, reducing exposure, and making informed decisions before a problem becomes an incident.
That’s what we do.
We help people see what others miss.
